Choose a count, not a forecast

The stock tool accepts a target selected by the user and a count of usable matching cups already held. It does not infer demand from staff numbers, customers, hours or an event type. If a target is not known, leave the input unresolved rather than using an invented industry consumption rate. The calculator answers a quantity question only after the user supplies its assumptions.

Subtract usable stock first

For a chosen target of 1200 cups with 250 usable matching cups held, 950 more are wanted. A 1000 cup case supplies 1000 and produces a final count of 1250, which is 50 above the chosen target. A 500 cup case would require two cases for the same additional count. The numerical result does not decide which construction or exact SKU is appropriate.

Round the purchase, not the target

The tool uses ceiling division because the selected offers sell whole cases. It does not return 0.95 of a 1000 cup case as an orderable quantity. If the actual seller also has a smaller-pack option, that is another offer with its own current price. This selected-case tool does not pretend a case can be split at the same unit cost without verifying that purchase format.

Keep products separated

A usable inventory count should refer to the chosen exact cup family and intended task. Cups of another size or an unverified lid relationship are not automatically substitutes. Switching the selected product clears the prior target and held count in the tool. That prevents an old assumption from silently traveling into a new case format.

Use zero correctly

If the held count already meets or exceeds the chosen target, the additional purchase is zero. The tool still reports the final count and any amount above the target. A zero result is not a recommendation to operate without reserves;it simply follows the entered quantities. Blank, negative, fractional or out-of-range counts do not become a silent zero.

Check the purchasing boundary

A whole-case number does not reserve stock, confirm delivery timing or establish storage suitability. Verify the actual offer and seller conditions before ordering. Keep any selected extras as your own decision rather than a predicted breakage or wastage rate. The reference has not measured real consumption or loss at a business, and it does not turn this count into days of supply.

Separate a chosen reserve

A user can include an explicitly chosen reserve in their target before entering it, but the website does not add an automatic percentage. A business that chooses 1200 cups and one that chooses 1300 have made different assumptions. The resulting case counts may still be equal because of the case ceiling. That does not prove the reserve is free or that it will be consumed. The output reports purchased quantity and surplus relative to the entered target, leaving operational judgments with the actual buyer.
